Description

Spotlight Screening!

Repairing the World documents the incredible community response of Pittsburgh, PA over the three years that followed the devastating Tree of Life Synagogue massacre that killed eleven people. In this emotional and affirming film, we meet survivors, families of the victims, and diverse community members –clergy, civic leaders, students, educators, and sports figures – who stand together to affirm love in the face of hate. This brave community examines systemic vulnerabilities and works to counter antisemitism, racism, hate speech, and gun violence. The film shines a light on how a community can heal after trauma and become true neighbors and allies.

Followed by a conversation with Director Patrice O’Neill and Pittsburgh community film subjects Allen and Lauren Mallinger in person.

Screening as part of the Cummings Social Justice Film Series.

Best Documentary Film, 2022 Pittsburgh JFilm Festival, and 2022 San Francisco Jewish Film Festival.
